Philadelphia Field Inspectors Need To Ask For More Money For Inspections

Philadelphia field service inspectors have a higher cost of living than many of us. They pay an 8% sales tax and a beverage tax (1.5-cents per ounce) on any beverage that contains sugar. A 12-pack of Propel berry flavored water with 2 grams of sugar is $9.75.

I purchased three 24-pack cases of Propel at a BJ’s in Florida today. The price for a 24-pack case in Florida was $11.62 with tax. If Florida had the same beverage tax, I would have paid $17.70 … of which $6.08 would have been the beverage tax.

Bottom line: $9.75 for a 12-pack in Philly and $11.62 for a 24-pack in Florida. Philly field inspectors need to ask for more money just so that they can buy berry flavored water.
