Houston Field Inspectors … Look Into Disaster Unemployment Insurance

I talked to a Houston field service inspector who said that a Mortgage Order Mill (MOM) was offering work with payment 3 weeks down the road. Houston is under water and the Mortgage Order Mills are still pay on an average after 30-days with some having 60-day pay schedules. Some MOMs are not paying for completed work. Avoid Virginia MOMs.

Texas and the Federal Government is offering Disaster Unemployment Insurance which may be a better option than having to wait 30-60 days to get paid by a Mortgage Order Mill with a cash flow problem. Mortgage Order Mill executives, managers and staff will be paid before mortgage field service inspectors.

Make smart decisions. Don’t be stupid. Avoid the Mortgage Segment. If you cannot find good paying work, then disaster unemployment insurance might be a great gap filler. Check it out.

 Eligibility

When a major disaster has been declared by the President, DUA is generally available to any unemployed worker or self-employed individual who lived, worked, or was scheduled to work in the disaster area at the time of the disaster; and due to the disaster:

  • no longer has a job or a place to work; or

  • cannot reach the place of work; or

  • cannot work due to damage to the place of work; or

  • cannot work because of an injury caused by the disaster.

An individual who becomes the head of household and is seeking work because the former head of household died as a result of the disaster may also qualify for DUA benefits.
